Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy is so fast and easy to just throw in the slow cooker before you leave for work or take the kids to school. This is one of those slow cooker meals that the whole family will love!
Slow cooker recipes happen to be a family favorite in my house and for good reason – Mom gets to serve a home-cooked meal with minimal effort involved – now how is that for a win?!
This slow cooker chicken is made from simple ingredients but packs a big punch in the flavor department. We love to serve ours over mashed potatoes but it can also be served over rice, noodles, or baked potatoes.
How to Make Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy:
Making slow cooker chicken is so simple, you probably already have these ingredients on hand.
You’ll need 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, 26oz condensed mushroom soup, 2 packets of brown gravy mix, 1 cup of water, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the condensed soup with the gravy packets and water. Whisk together until all ingredients are combined and set aside.
How do I Cook Chicken in a Slow Cooker?
Place the skinless chicken in a five-quart or larger slow cooker and season with garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper. It is important to note that frozen chicken breasts can also be used in this recipe.
Pour the gravy mix over the chicken in the slow cooker and use a spoon to spread the gravy out evenly so that all of the chicken is covered.
Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 4 hours.
Once the chicken is cooked, shred the meat between two forks and stir it into the gravy. These slow cooker chicken breasts will be so tender, they’ll start to fall apart easily when you begin to shred them.
Chicken in the Crock Pot Recipe Tips:
We love to serve our chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, but you can also serve the chicken and gravy over noodles or rice.
If you don’t have boneless skinless chicken breasts, you can use chicken tenders or even boneless skinless chicken thighs for this recipe.
Condensed chicken soup can also be used in this recipe in place of the condensed mushroom soup.
While I prefer brown gravy for this recipe, 2 packets of chicken gravy or 2 packets of turkey gravy can be substituted for the brown gravy in this recipe.
Chicken broth can be substituted for water in this crockpot chicken and brown gravy recipe for a little extra flavor.
Side Dish Pairings for 3 Ingredient Crockpot Chicken and Gravy:
I like to keep it simple with side dishes and this chicken recipe for the crock pot is no exception.
If you love an easy salad I suggest giving this Everyday Side Salad recipe a try from Gimme Some Oven. Salads are a great way to sneak fresh, raw, veggies into a dinner meal in a tasteful and attractive way.
Since we serve our Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy over mashed potatoes, I like to add something green for a side dish. If salad isn’t your thing, green beans, green peas, asparagus, or roasted brussels sprouts are all good options.
Favor the starchy over the green? Try adding steamed carrots, corn on the cob, or a good, old-fashioned dinner roll.
Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy is such an easy slow cooker meal, I can guarantee you’ll come back to this one over and over again!
How to Make This Slow Cooker Chicken Breast with Gravy Gluten Free:
If you’re sensitive to gluten or just trying to eat healthier, making Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy gluten-free is simple.
Substitute the cream of mushroom soup for gluten free cream of mushroom soup and substitute the brown gravy packets for gluten free brown gravy packets.
Gluten-free cream of chicken soup and gluten-free chicken gravy or turkey gravy packets can be substituted for the cream of mushroom and brown gravy.
