Valentine’s French Toast
Can you believe Valentine’s Day is already around the corner? With Valentine’s quickly approaching, I wanted to share this simple and delicious recipe for Naan Bread French Toast.
I don’t know about you, but growing up, Valentin’s Day was always a fun time around our house.
Mom usually got up early and fixed pancakes or french toast and Dad made a last minute run to the store for a card and flowers for me and Mom.
This little family tradition lasted until I left the house at age 19 and I have many fond memories of receiving flowers or stuffed animals along with a special breakfast.
With the sharing of the Naan Bread French Toast recipe, I also want to share a funny Valentine’s Day memory.
One February 14, as Mom was pulling the last of the french toast off the hot griddle, Dad came through the door with a surprise for both of us.
Little did he know that the surprise was also going to be on him as well.
Dad walked into the kitchen with a big smile on his face and handed me and mom both a dozen of paper wrapped roses and a beautiful card.
My first thought was “Wow! These roses are so light! Much lighter than normal!” But they were truly gorgeous.
Mine were yellow little buds with sparkling dew drops and Mom’s were bright red.
As I examined my dozen of beautifully wrapped roses, I began to realize that something just didn’t add up.
Heart Shaped French Toast
As Dad went on about how all of the roses were completely sold out at the store except the “exceptionally perfect” roses he bought us, realization began to dawn on me.
These roses were impostures! Dad had unknowingly bought two dozen FAKE roses for us!
It was at that moment that I blurted out, “Dad! These flowers are fake!” He whirled around in shock and confusion and took a closer look at the beautiful flowers, just certain that I was playing a joke on him.
Turns out, he had been tricked, but not by me! Those beautiful silk flowers gazed guilelessly back up at him as he stared in anger and stunned silence.
Once the surprise of the moment faded away, we all doubled over in laughter and I affectionately named those roses “Forever Flowers”. I kept them for years after!
While the roses that day were fake, there was absolutely nothing fake about Mom’s delicious French Toast.
I have stirred all of the love and memories of that long ago February 14 into this recipe for Naan Bread French Toast and I hope you can share it with your family on Valentine’s Day.
Naan Bread French Toast
Let’s start this French Toast party off with this beautiful Naan Bread by California Lavash.
I really can’t tell you how California Lavash’s Naan Bread is so pillow-y and soft – like biting into a beautiful cloud!
Oh, and all of their breads are NON GMO verified and full of only good, real, and whole ingredients!
Besides the Best Naan Bread ever, you’ll also need three eggs (I prefer Organic, cage free), 1 teaspoon of ground Organic cinnamon, and one heart shaped cookie cutter.
California Lavash Naan Bread
For this Naan Bread French Toast Recipe I ended up using 2 1/2 sheets of Californai Lavash Naan Bread.
Look at that soft and fluffy goodness!
If you don’t have any heart shaped cookie cutters, Walmart carries a large selection right now as well as Hobby Lobby and Amazon.
Naan Bread French Toast Hearts
Once your Naan Bread is laid out and you’ve selected a cookie cutter (I used a medium sized heart) it’s time to get to work.
Cut the sliced of Naan Bread into individual heart shapes using the cookie cutter.
Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, you should be able to get fourteen hearts from 2 1/2 sheets of bread.
Valentine’s Day Breakfast Recipe
Now just look at all of those hearts!
Something about Valentine’s Day and heart themed food just makes me happy. 🙂
Easy French Toast Recipe
Your Naan Bread hearts are cut and ready to go, so let’s move on to the eggs.
Beat three eggs in a medium sized mixing bowl and then whisk in 1 teaspoon of Organic, ground cinnamon.
Stir the cinnamon in as best as you can here. Some lumps will still remain and that’s okay.
Valentine French Toast
Dredge each heart shaped California Lavash Naan Bread into the egg and cinnamon mixture, using a fork to poke holes in the front and back of the heart so that the egg can soak into the bread.
As you dredge the hearts in the egg wash, allow the excess egg to drip back into the bowl before placing on a hot griddle or in a hot skillet.
Valentine Breakfast
Cook the French Toast Hearts on medium heat on each side until the bread rises and the egg is cooked and no longer wet.
This should take about 10 minutes total.
Healthy French Toast Recipe
Once all of your French Toast Hearts are cooked, it’s time to plate and garnish those cute little hearts to your satisfaction.
We enjoyed our Naan Bread French Toast topped with Organic, raw, unfiltered honey and fresh black berries but some optional toppings include Organic Agave, Organic Maple Syrup, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or banana slices.
I bet even some cashew or almond butter slathered on top would be amazing too.
So many ways to enjoy this adorable Valentine’s themed breakfast!
Valentine’s Day Breakfast Recipe for Kids
If you’ve got kiddos around the house, brighten their day with this adorable and tasty breakfast treat.
Your kids will have fun helping you make these and customizing them with their favorite toppings.
They also re-heat really well if you need to pack them for a quick on-the-go breakfast or even for a nutritious and delicious lunch box treat.
I hope you have enjoyed your time in my kitchen today and that you had as much fun making this Naan Bread French Toast as I did!
