There is no breakfast that can bring back the memories quite as much like this recipe for Instant Pot Sweet Rice. When I was little, my mom got a rice steamer one year for Christmas and made this sweet rice, or as I like to call it now, Instant Pot Sweet Rice. It was a real treat in our house because I had never had rice like this before!
I fell in love with this Instant Pot Sweet Rice that day and have loved it ever since.
Christmas morning we always had a special breakfast, one that my mom didn’t normally cook all of the time, and most of the time it was this Instant Pot Sweet Rice! So in keeping up with my family’s holiday tradition, this year I’m planning to serve this Instant Pot, Sweet Rice, to my own family for breakfast Christmas morning.
I hope you all love this recipe as much as we do and I hope it brings your family together around the table to create some special Christmas memories of your own. One thing I love so much about this recipe is that your Instant Pot does all of the work for you.
Those of you who purchased an Instant Pot during all of the Black Friday sales last month and STILL haven’t got it out of the box, now is your chance to try it out! I really can’t think of an easier recipe to try your Instant Pot out on than this Instant Pot Sweet Rice! If you have a rice steamer you love you can use that as well or just cook the rice on the stovetop.
First start out by adding two cups of uncooked, long-grain (NOT Minute Rice!) to your Instant Pot.
Once you’ve two cups of rice, add in four cups of water.
Lock the lid on, set the steam release valve to “sealing” and set the Instant Pot to the pre-programmed “rice” cooking mode.
Once the cooking cycle has finished, quickly release the pressure by opening up the steam release valve and then remove the lid. If you want to make this entire batch of rice into Instant Pot Sweet rice, the recipe card below gives the instructions for making this in large batch form.
For the photos, I’ve shown you how to make this one bowl at a time just in case you have some in your family that need or prefer different ingredients in their sweet rice. Add 1/2 cup rice to a bowl and then add some fat-free evaporated milk.
Once the milk is added, add 1/2 teaspoon unsalted butter.
Stir the milk and butter into the rice until the butter is melted, then get ready to add the other two magic ingredients, the Splenda blend Brown Sugar and ground cinnamon.
Add a pinch of the Splenda Brown Sugar Blend to your Instant Pot Sweet Rice.
Now sprinkle on the ground cinnamon. I don’t measure this, I just sprinkle.
Give the rice another good stir to ensure that all ingredients are well combined. Now you’re ready to dig in and eat this Instant Pot, Sweet Rice!
This Instant Pot Sweet Rice looks good enough to eat! I love using my Instant Pot for breakfast because it allows me to get my little man up and both of us ready for the day while breakfast cooks on it’s own!
