I’ve been making this Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce for quite some time before I realized what I was actually making. We love a good sweet, tangy, spicy, mustard sauce combo so I mixed this up while back and it just became a hit.
I wasn’t familiar with Carolina Mustard BBQ until some searches online revealed that my recipe was actually just that, a mustard BBQ sauce.
Where I come from, the BBQ sauce is red, tomato-based, and sweet. Originally from Oklahoma and now living in Arkansas, we love our sweet BBQ sauce around here! However, we’ve also always been a fan of a great mustard sauce over smoked pulled pork or chicken. Serve those smoked sandwiches with this sauce and a heaping serving of my Southern Coleslaw or Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Fries and you’ve got a recipe for deliciousness.
This Easy Carolina Mustard Barbecue Sauce Recipe is made in only minutes!
Grab a clear, glass canning jar that will hold at least 8 ounces. Add in amber agave, spicy brown mustard, regular mustard, ground black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. I use agave for the sweetener but you could also use honey, granulated white sugar, or brown sugar.
South Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce is perfect for summer cook-outs!
Once the ingredients have been added to the jar, stir well to combine and serve immediately or store in the fridge. If sealed to be airtight, this Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce will keep in the fridge for up to 30 days.
This mustard sauce is delicious served on smoked ribs, smoked pulled pork, pulled chicken, or grilled chicken or hot dogs. If you’re hosting or attending summer cook-outs, bring this sauce along and spice things up!
