Happy Tuesday to ya! Today I’m sharing a super gourmet, fancy side dish that I’m sure you’ve never heard of before. Just kidding! haha! You know I don’t specialize in gourmet or fancy around here; but what I do specialize in is fast, easy, and downright GOOD! So here’s my take on Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes. It’s not rocket science but it’s simple, southern goodness made easy! I can promise that you’ll love my Slow Cooker Mashed Potato recipe. Just try it and see!
I asked ya’ll over on Instagram to give me some side dish ideas that you wanted to see for Thanksgiving and remarkably, mashed potatoes was at the top of everyone’s list. I’m not sure why that surprised me, after all, they are one of God’s greatest gifts to mankind! Luckily for all of us, I just so happen to have a smashing (no pun intended) recipe for Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes – yes, they are made in the slow cooker! Perfect way to free up the stove for something else and let your slow cooker do all the work on Thanksgiving Day!
This recipe is pretty elementary so I’ll try not to bore you stiff with the details. First you’ll want to start out with some nice russet potatoes like these pictured below. Now you want to peel em’, dice em’ and chunk em’ (chunk them in the slow cooker that is!).
Add in some water, place the lid on your slow cooker and cook. Once they’re finished cooking just drain off the water, mash the potatoes using a potato masher, and add in all of the other ingredients (listed below). Stir up this delicious thing we all call mashed potatoes and enjoy! Ya might even want to top it with some fabulous Turkey Gravy. Hhmmm now you’re talking!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes
Delicious, creamy, and effortless mashed potatoes!
- 4 medium sized Russet Potatoes
- 1 rounded tbsp mayo
- 2 rounded tbsp fat free sour cream
- 1 tbsp fat free grated Italian Cheese
- 1/2 cup fat free milk
- salt to taste
- ground black pepper to taste
- garlic powder to taste
- onion powder to taste
Peel and dice potatoes and place in a 3 quart or larger slow cooker.
Add 1 cup of water, cover, and cook on low 5 hours or high 3 hours.
Once cooked, drain the water and mash potatoes with a potato masher.
Add in all other ingredients, stir well and serve!
