Okay guys, I have a real good recipe for you today. Have you ever made ribs in your slow cooker? Well, if the answer was “no” then you really don’t know what you’re missing out on with these Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs! This is my husband’s favorite meal that I cook out of ALLL the meals (and believe me, there’s a ton!) that I cook! These ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender and will just melt in your mouth. In this recipe I’m using beef ribs but in the past I have also use St. Louis Style baby back ribs and they also come out fabulous in the slow cooker! Don’t knock it until you try it! These Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs would also make a great, non-traditional Christmas dinner meal item or even New Year’s dinner!
First off, I like to start out by laying out all of my ingredients. That didn’t take too much effort since there are only 3 ingredients to these Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs including the ribs themselves! I like to use Head Country bar-b-q sauce and Head Country Sweet & Spicy seasoning but you can always use the bar-b-q sauce and dry rub that’s your favorite.
Remove the ribs from the packaging, rinse, and coat each side with the Head Country Sweet & Spicy seasoning (or the dry rub of your choice). Don’t be stingy with the dry rub folks! Season liberally! The seasoning helps to make Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs the awesome bit of savoriness that they are! If your rack of ribs comes in a whole rack, you’ll probably need to cut it in half in order to fit it into your slow cooker. The ribs I purchased came already halved.
Now that you’ve got the seasoning on the ribs, Place one half the rack with the fat side down into the slow cooker. I used my 6 quart slow cooker for these Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs and wouldn’t recommend using anything smaller unless you have a really small set of ribs.
Now top the meat side of your Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs with bbq sauce. Be sure to coat them evenly – even if you have to use a spoon to spread the sauce out over all of the meat.
Add the seasoning dry rub to the other half of the rib rack and wedge it into your slow cooker however you have to do it. I stood mine up along the side of the slow cooker.
Now add some Q to that other half of the rib rack! These Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs are already lookin’ good and they haven’t even cooked yet!
Now that the ribs are in the slow cooker, place the lid on the slow cooker and set to cook for 6 hours on high or 8 hours on low. No, you DO NOT add water! The meat is fatty enough that it will not need the extra moisture from the water to be tender and juicy.
Once the cook time is up and your house smells amazing (you’re probably drooling over how good these Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs smell by now!) remove the lid from the slow cooker and serve your ribs! Be careful because these ribs will be very hot!
I can assure you, these Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs will be a hit wherever and whenever you serve them! Who doesn’t love some good ole’ Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs that just fall off the bone?!
Slow Cooker BBQ Ribs
Delicious, savory, and oh so tender, fall-off-the-bone ribs!
- 1 rib rack beef
- 1 cup Head Country Original Bar-B-Q Sauce
- Head Country Sweet & Spicy Seasoning to taste
Remove ribs from the packaging and rinse. Cut the rack in half if it's not already cut in half.
Season both sides of the ribs liberally with Head Country Sweet & Spicy seasoning.
Place on half of the rib rack, fat side down into a 6 quart or larger slow cooker. Wedge the other half the ribs into the slow cooker how ever you need to get them in.
Pour bbq sauce over the ribs, smoothing it out with a spoon to ensure that the meat is covered in sauce.
Place lid on the slow cooker, cook on high 6 hours or low 8 hours.
Once cooked, remove lid, remove ribs carefully, and enjoy!
